Based on the data from WorldCat, the book has for the first time evaluated the global influence of nearly 600 Chinese publishers. Following the updates of Chinese books from 2012 to 2015, the author has made a ranking list of Chinese publishers according to their global influence. The report of 2012 and 2013 was written on the basis of the retrieval results and analysis of the Chinese books contained in WorldCat and published by nearly 600 Chinese mainland publishers between 1949 and 2011 and in 2013. The report of 2014 and 2015 analyzed and studied the Chinese books contained in WorldCat which were published in the previous year by nearly 600 Chinese mainland publishers. These two reports, published as two books, provide us with the catalogue of Chinese books over the past 60 years and outline the global influence of Chinese publishers.
Each of the annual reports collected in the book was released on the Beijing International Book Fair (BIBF), with the full reports published in China Publishing& Media Journal. Consisting of some 100,000 characters, this book is the first of its kind in China that introduces third-party data to the evaluation of Chinese books` global influence.
